Lasith Malinga is a Sri Lankan former cricketer known as a right-arm fast bowler with a distinct slinging action. Though retired from all forms of international cricket since 2021, he is active in coaching and was appointed as the bowling mentor for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the 2025 Indian Premier League season. His records include being the highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in ODIs and T20Is, and he was the first bowler to take four wickets in four consecutive deliveries in a ODI match.

Key Achievements
- Captained Sri Lanka to victory in the 2014 T20 World Cup.
- Became the first bowler to take four wickets in four consecutive ODI deliveries against South Africa in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup.
- Was the first bowler to take three ODI hat-tricks, achieving his third in 2011.
- Became the first bowler to take 100 international T20 wickets, a feat he achieved in 2019.
